International Passive House Open Days returns in November 2025

After the success of the June 2024 event, the International Passive House Open Days (IPOD) will return from 7-9 November 2025, offering another opportunity for homeowners, builders, designers and curious individuals to explore what it’s like to live in a passive house.
Held bi-annually and organised by the International Passive House Association (iPHA) and its affiliates around the world (including the Australian Passivhaus Association) this global event invites the public to visit certified Passive House buildings in their local area, meet the people behind them and learn about the principles that make these homes energy-efficient, comfortable and healthy to live in.
I want to open my passive house
From now until 1 October, designers and owners of certified passive houses in Australia are encouraged to submit their sites for inclusion in the event. For passive house homeowners who are unable to open their homes, there’s still an opportunity to get involved by submitting a video tour, which will be hosted on the iPHA YouTube channel.
Participants are also encouraged to add to the visitor experience by hosting a presentation on topics such as “Passive houses and health”, “Passivhaus 101”, or the “History of the passive house standard”. These sessions are designed to educate and inspire attendees to consider Passive House principles in their own builds or renovations.
I want to attend a passive house tour
For those interested in attending a tour of a passive house in Australia, registration will open on 6 October and close on 5 November, with access details sent out the following day.
If you are unable to attend in person or you’d like an idea of what to expect, visit the iPHA YouTube channel. Here, you’ll find the International Passive House Open Days playlist, featuring a collection of video tours from past editions, showing a wide variety of passive house projects.
